A large and spectacular California modernist coffee table produced by Vista of California in the 1950s. Delightful freeform top with original black melamine surface and contrasting mahogany edge. The four steel legs are totally original and have the loveliest, warm patina with an oh-so-slight verdigris hue. The table has been gently restored and is in ideal vintage condition. The mahogany siding has been sanded and waxed for a smooth, soft look. the black melamine is in great overall shape, with some light, variegated fading (which in our opinion adds to the charm). The legs have been left as is. The mix of materials is really quite stunning, and the table, though Californian in its origin, gives off total Jean Prouve vibes. It is exceptionally versatile and will work with a number of aesthetics.
