Rock, Paper, Scissors
Pierre Jeanneret was an innovative modernist architect and designer whose aesthetic placed function and simplicity over ornamentation and pretentiousness. His designs embraced the clean geometric lines of modernism with light materials like natural fibers and wood. Throughout his career he collaborated with such icons as Le Corbusier (who was actually his cousin), Charlotte Perriand, and Jean Prouve. Their collaborative efforts made way for some of the most iconic furniture designs of the 20th century.
In the 1940s, while traveling through Europe, Hans and Florence Knoll encountered a chair designed solely by Pierre Jeanneret. They licensed the design and in 1948 introduced to the world the Model 92 Scissors Chair.
