An early and uncommon wingback lounge chair designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar in the 1940s. This dramatic chair features a large, exaggerated curved back which creates a round, cocooning silhouette. The drama of the top is balanced by modest, sculpted mahogany legs and a subtly arched front rail. Brass nailheads adorn the top of the arms, as well as the entire perimeter of the curved wings adding some punkish flair. The brass ornamentation contrasts beautifully against the luxurious bronze mohair fabric.
The chair has been lovingly restored. It features new, incredibly soft mohair upholstery, a brand new, thick, fluffy feather down seat cushion, and the solid mahogany based has been gently refinished to bring back the warm reddish tone of the wood. It shows some nominal, light cosmetic scratches, but is otherwise smooth, sturdy and beautiful. All springs have been re-tied, joints re-glued, and new foam. This beauty is ready for another 100 years. This wonderful design is sure to add some sophisticated drama to your space.
