A stunning and uncommon set of 6 French modernist dining chairs produced by Maison Stella in the 1950s. Sleek sculptural frames in aniline dyed beech. Original brown velvet upholstery. Elegant, sculpted form from every angle. This set is in its original condition--the frames have light imperfections in the form of cosmetic blemishes, light fading around the feet, and overall just minor wear consistent with age and use. They are however very solid and sturdy. The velvet upholstery is also original with some cosmetic imperfections. While the chairs are perfectly usable 'as is', we would recommend new upholstery; and for the perfectionist, perhaps a refinishing of the frames (though we think the frames are great 'as is'). The chairs retain their original adorable manufacturer stamps, as seen in the photo. Overall, a really stunning and dramatic set of chairs, extremely regal in their form, with a bit of a Gio Ponti vibe to them. We are able to assist with new upholstery, if desired.
