A large and unique quartz crystal table lamp by Carole Stupell, handcrafted in the late 1940s. This incredible one-of-a-kind lamp sculpture features a stepped, kidney form, gilded wood base and the rare, original shade which mimics the same form of the base. The body of the lamp is composed of quartz crystal clusters which have been plastered and bonded together to create a large structure. The top of the lamp sports the original crystal finial. This large example stands about 42" tall from base to finial and weighs around 40 pounds. To call this lamp a "statement piece" would be an understatement. It will command attention in your space. It is a true work of art. Being 80-ish years old, its shows some cosmetic patina and yellowing to the original bonding agent, as well as some obscured, nominal areas of loss to the crystal (this is normal for all of these lamps), and frankly it adds to the character and speaks to the age of the piece. The gilded wood base is in beautiful condition, and the original shade has been updated with brand new natural linen. This divine beauty is ready for use.
