Relaxed lounge chair designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Cassina in Italy. Features gathered and tufted fabric enclosed by chrome plated steel bracers providing a sleek visual and practical structure. Originally designed in the 1960's, this chair hit popularity in the 70's but is reminiscent of initial bent steel furniture designs of the 1920's and 30's which blended industrial components into everyday furniture. This Scarpa chair design won the Compasso d'Oro prize in 1970.
