Alvar and Aino Aalto's furniture reemerged from post war Europe on February 11, 1947 with the grand opening of Finsven an importer with a small showroom at 925 Madison Ave, New York. We believe this "Hallway Chair" dates to the late 1940s it exhibits a wonderful Finsven mark, and general golden patina. Of note is instead of the Aalto's signature bent wood frame, this chair has finger joints creating a sturdy, boxy shape that the plywood rests upon like a sheet of paper.
