A large, impressive, outstanding and exceedingly rare lounge chair designed by George Nakashima for Widdicomb circa 1959. Only a couple of these chairs have hit the market in the last decade, and this may very well be the nicest one. It is in absolutely stunning original condition, with only light wear to the Boris Kroll fabric. It was compulsively well taken care of by the original owner and always covered for all these years. It was also barely used, used as more of a show piece in their home.
The oversized, thick slab flat arms, the high back, the dramatic flared top, and the large scale make this piece a truly unique sculpture - Nakashima really unleashed all his flair in this design. The original lumbar pillow and head pillow make it as comfortable as it is beautiful.
Nakashima pieces are more collectible now than they have ever been, and this example is a definite investment worthy piece, a perfect addition to any Nakashima enthusiast's collection.
