A stunning, one-of-a-kind modernist mosaic top coffee table made in the early 1960s, possibly by Jack Boyd. The large, ovular table features an impressive Venetian glass tile top in different shades of blues, greens, browns and gold, all of which come together to create an organic modernist wave-like motif. The edge of the table top is wrapped in thick patinated brass, with the substantial top supported by four solid walnut, tapered and splayed legs. This magnificent table has a very cool story: it was discovered hidden in a secret wall compartment of a historic mansion in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego!
The mosaic glass top is in fantastic original vintage condition with some nominal age consistent wear. The dark walnut legs have been freshly refinished. We have kept the brass original with all its delightful oxidation and patina. This incredibly solid and sturdy work of art is ready to be enjoyed for another 65 years. You will not find another live it.
