A fantastic American studio craft sculptural coffee table made by the artist/craftsman Sterling King in 1980. This fabulous, large-scale table features an organic, fantastical, alien-esque form, and consists of a sculpted solid walnut top and free form stack laminated walnut base which fully integrate along the top of the table like the mountains on a topographical map. Masterful construction. Equal parts sculpture and table.
This exquisite, imaginative piece has has been fully restored and stabilized. It is in lovely vintage condition with some smooth, age consistent wear. Signed to the bottom: "Sterling Johnson King".
