This curvy, sinuous, undulating "Hindsight Sofa" was initially designed by Vladimir Kagan as a limited run in the 1960s. This contemporary example, sold through Vladimir Kagan, has been crafted with the same painstaking standards as the original. Made to order, and crafted in the USA, each one of these sofas is made by hand by highly skilled artisans and crafted of the highest quality materials. It features down and foam back construction, complex upholstery methods with all materials cut and tailored by hand, and hand-tied spring seating. The final result is a true heirloom quality sofa which will last for generations. The body of the sofa sits on a stunning 1" thick lucite base which makes the sofa appear to hover above the floor.
When we say this sofa looks good from every angle, we mean it. It is just as breathtaking from the back as it is from the front (which is likely why it's called the "Hindsight Sofa)! It truly takes on the form of a large, organic sculpture and commands your attention. This example sports its original midnight blue velvet upholstery. It is a very versatile color which works well with essentially any color palette.
The sofa was originally acquired for a high end staging project and was never actually used in a home. It is in near new condition, with only a tiny bit of nominal wear to the velvet on the back side where it was pushed up along a wall (totally not a big deal at all by any standards! Please see the 2 photos which show this), as well as some minor, age consistent wear to the lucite base. The sofa is signed to the bottom with the Vladimir Kagan plaque, original tags, and monogrammed undercloth.
The original cost of this sofa was north of $30,000 with a 12-14 week wait time. This is your chance to own a rare and investment worthy Kagan piece for a fraction of the price.
