An outstanding, one-of-a-kind custom rosewood daybed by Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Dreyfus circa 1958-1959. This is a unique piece custom designed for a New York City client in the 1950s. It is heat branded with the earliest "Kagan-Dreyfus" marking.
Stunning rosewood case with incredible grain detail. Thick lucite base. $150/yard Lee Jofa California Velvet. The bar which runs through the bolster is solid brass. This piece has been completely restored from head to toe, and is ready for another 60 years of enjoyment.
This is a multi-position piece, so the three grooves in the top of the frame allow you to adjust the bolster into 3 different sitting positions: 1. Extra deep lounging 2. More upright conversational seating 3. Move the bolster all the way into the third slot to allow seating on either side of the daybed. You may also remove the bolster completely to turn the sofa into a twin size bed.
This is an true collector's piece which will hold its value as a piece of design history.
